Hair Care Services

Going Natural Service

Transitioning from color-processed hair to your natural hair color is an individual journey. This is a highly customized service. At Uptown we begin with a free, in-depth consultation between you and an experienced colorist. During the consult, we study the color of your hair, its texture, your lifestyle, and the speed at which you want to transition. You can expect us to listen carefully to your needs and then recommend the number of appointments needed, and cost for each appointment to deliver you a smooth and healthy transition to your natural hair color.  We also advise on your hair care routine and recommend products for both during and after your journey to natural hair color. Working with each client’s individual needs ensures a client experience that culminates in celebration and a toast to your fresh start.

Hair Braiding

For those who desire a full or partial head of beautiful box braids, cornrows, twists, and distressed butterfly locks. With your head fully braided you will have a variety of options for creative and unique daily styles. Choose to incorporate synthetic or natural fibers, extensions, or cotton yarn into your braids. This will create a longer-lasting style, add volume and length,  and will protect your hair as it grows.

The installation process of braids can be lengthy, but once installed they can last for six to eight weeks. There are so many options for classic and customized braiding options, we welcome you to book a consultation to discover yours.

Hair Care Services

I went to Nancy at Uptown Salon & Spa for a color + cut correction after an unfortunate experience at another salon. From the separate consultation appointment through to the final result at the end of my actual hair appointment, Nancy was thoughtful, extremely knowledgeable, and a consummate professional. She listened to what I wanted, and gave me some great professional advice.I love my new color and cut, and look forward to going back to her in the future! She is truly a hidden gem!!

Thank you Dori! I had to come in to have my grown out highlights and other issues fixed. I had a vision in mind and Dori not only really listened and asked questions about what I would and wouldn’t like but she knocked it out of the ballpark. Honestly, my hair looked even better than I had hoped for. She completely captured what I was looking for and I can’t wait to go back to her next time. I would absolutely recommend her for any coloring you are looking to do.

I was in the area for a few days and on a rainy day I gave them a call in the hopes they had an opening for a facial and/or massage. The staff member who took my call was so warm and friendly and said she had an opening for just what I needed....pampering! They welcomed me with joy and professionalism and immediately escorted me to the spa area of the facility. My facial with Petra was just glorious! She did a comprehensive analysis of my skin care concerns and needs and genuinely seemed... interested in what brought me to the spa - I told her more than anything I wanted to just relax and drift off. She delivered! An incredible facial customized to my needs, paraffin hand treatment during massage and glowing skin. I could not have been more pleased with the service. Then on to a 90 minute massage with Jody. I like a strong Swedish style, not quite deep tissue but close. OMG - she broke out all the big guns from her strength as a therapist to hot stones, hot towels, more hot stones, more hot towels...there were so many surprises over the 90 minutes that when I stumbled out of the treatment room a almost felt like I was tipsy. The facility is beautiful and immaculate, the treatment rooms were huge and the staff were consummate professionals. I will definitely book services again on my next visit to Westerly. Thank you!read more

This was the first haircut I got that I really liked. As a guy with thinning hair it's hard to find a good haircut but they are really good with hair and answered all my questions. Note: Bring in cash so you can tip, because there's no tip option for credit cards

When I graduated from Arthur Angelo School of Cosmetology, I promised myself that I would never get complacent in my career. I’m happy to say that with a team of talented hair artists surrounding me, it’s been easy to stay inspired and keep my commitment to learning and growing.

I consider each head of hair as a canvas that I’m painting. I love freehand balayage and foiling, and I take in the whole picture as I apply lightener –  the frame of the face, the way the hair grows, and the root color all play a part in how and where I apply. The longer I work with a client the more adept I become at their color and style, and I love when my guests allow me to change things up and try something new.

It’s rewarding to make others feel great and the relationships I’ve developed with my guests are very important to me. If you asked me what I couldn’t live without, it would hands down be coffee!

When I am not working I’m busy raising my two daughters. When the sun is out you might see us at Misquamicut Beach or hiking at Tomaquag Trail or Ashville Pond in Hopkinton RI.

I grew up in Griswold, CT and graduated from Toni & Guy Hairdressing Academy in Cranston, RI. I specialize in fashion color and am certified by Keratin Complex. One of the ways I stay up to speed on hair trends is to follow influential stylists on social media. I also attend cosmetology shows and classes. Coming to work does not feel like a job to me, because I find pure joy in my work. I go to great lengths to teach my clients how to achieve a salon look at home by sharing insider knowledge and recommending what products are worth spending your money on in order to achieve a professional looking outcome at home. Right now I’m perfecting my hair color and balayage techniques. If I ever have a break in between appointments, my mind goes straight to ice cream. I crave it all year long and love every flavor!

I consider myself very fortunate to be in a career where I can do the things I love, such as transforming hair through the application of bold and vivid fashion colors. I’m part of a team of knowledgeable professionals that encourage and support each other. I started at Uptown after graduating from Toni & Guy Cosmetology School and right away I was introduced to a variety of different techniques, great personalities, and tons of exposure to everything hair. I also took over ordering the color product which is not a small task, but it taught me a lot about our color line and has helped me gain experience and confidence. As the Kerastase Ambassador, I am the go-to person for styling product questions, not only for clients, but I also take the lead in educating our team on new product launches.

You might see me working as a Guest Service Expert sometimes too. I am trained to book reservations and I love to let our guests know about other service options in our Spa.  At Uptown I’ve built a reputation for fashion color application, and while this is something I love, I also appreciate my guests who prefer more natural looks. I’ve learned from the best here at Uptown, so I can provide a full range of hair colors and cuts to my guests.

When I’m not here I’m spending time with my horses at my family farm in Connecticut, and I’m looking forward to a life balanced with work and travel adventures. I’ve already traveled to 32 states and 2 other countries!

I graduated from Westerly High’s Cosmetology school, and shortly after being licensed, I chose to continue my education at Paul Mitchell in Orlando Florida. This was a great experience, and it sparked a love for education that has kept me on the move – I’ve since attended LA’s Sexy Hair Academy and L’Oreal Professional’s Ambassador Program

Now that my family has grown with 2 beautiful daughters,  I continue to be inspired through online education and the motivational videos posted by other successful stylists. Helping people feel beautiful and creating the art of each individual’s look is my strength. I’m also adept at a wide range of braiding techniques, including cornrows. I enjoy teaching guests about the subtle nuances of their hairstyle and how they can maintain salon looks at home.

When I’m not working I enjoy time with my family and being in nature.

I grew up in the beautiful Charlestown, RI, area and received my training from Toni + Guy academy in 2020 in Cranston, RI as well as via the Loreal Color ambassador program. I love working with clients from all over who travel to Westerly for their summer and hear their stories, while giving them that special cut. I am passionate about my craft and am continually taking classes and following social media influencers to learn new techniques and acquire new skills. This industry is so fast-pace and always adapting, which I love!

It’s important to me to not only give my clients a great haircut or service but to also help them learn how to care for and maintain their cut after they have left the salon. This is especially true for my Balayage and Lightening clients.  I do this through educating, listening, giving my utmost attention to my clients and ultimately helping them feel like their best self on day of service, and the days to follow.

When I am not at Uptown you can find me enjoying time with my 2 beautiful children on East Beach in Charlestown, or juggling or unicycling (but not all at the same time!)

I grew up in Westerly, RI, and attended Westerly High School. In high school at the age of 14 is when I first was able to learn about my craft in their cosmetology program. Through that program, I gained the basics, and then throughout my career, I’ve continued to develop my craft through experience, mentors, and online influencers where I make it a point to stay abreast of new trends in the industry.  My favorite part of coming to work every day is the joy I get in helping others feel good about themselves, and making sure I’m a positive influence and moment in their day.

Patty Fairweather

I grew up in Queens NY but moved to East Greenwich Rhode Island in 1989 and to South County in 2000 making Rhode Island my home of 32 years.  It is where I chose to raise my four (4) daughters, where I received my undergraduate degree in English Literature, and where I chose to continue living while commuting to Boston College Law School where I received my law degree in 1997.
I’ve been practicing the art of braiding for over 45 years. I absolutely love creating beautiful box braids, corn rows, distressed butter-fly locks, and dreadlocks.  I’ve learned and adapted many creative techniques over the years. My portfolio is extensive, and I really enjoy the consultationswhich allow me to determine the grade of hair and the best type of braid to match my guest’s desired outcome, life style, and unique personal goals. Few things can match the reward of creating a beautiful head of fully braided hair and seeing the transformation and joy that it brings to my clients.
Yes, I have a busy life, but I do have a lot of fun.  When I’m not braiding hair or working at my law practice, I love to cook for my family and my family of friends.  I also love exercising at Wilcox Park and taking a leisurely stroll there while listening to audio books.  Hey, you might see me riding my bike to the farmer’s market or to the beach, or popping into the stores of downtown Westerly and Mystic Village; if you do, wave I would love to meet you!
